作者簡介
法蘭西絲‧赫奇森‧班內特 (France Hodgson Burnett, 1849─1924)，英國最受喜愛的童書作家之一。她從小就很會寫文章，最初是為了賺錢，才將自己的文章寄到雜誌社，結果她的文筆受到青睞，便躍身成為作家。在她的寫作生涯裡，總共出版了四十多本書籍。
班內特總是將自己的童年經驗，完整地重現在故事中。她的作品《小公子》是以自己的二女兒為範本而創作出來的開朗少女故事，她另外還有一部知名著作《小公主》，描寫樂觀的少女莎拉克服種種困難的故事，甚至還被改拍成戲劇及卡通。
